Steering Design
The
final jogger design still utilizes handlebars and triathlon bars, but uses a
different style of cable routing to achieve a cleaner, more professional look
that also boosts efficiency with our height adjustability and
collapsibility. This design reduces the size
of our previously designed steering plates and makes them compact and lighter. The new design also orients the steering
plates in a different direction that is 90⁰ from the previous design. The new
design keeps the same steering stop design on the front fork to limit the
turning radius to avoid any over steer by the user that could cause an
accident. The steering ratio remains 1:1
as it was with the initial design. The
overall sketch of the new design is seen in the figure below:
This new design helps to create a cleaner, more professional look, and hides some of the unappealing portions of the design, such as the cables themselves, while still remaining fully functional. The new steering design also called for new, redesigned steering plates for the front fork. The bottom plate which is rigidly attached to the front fork is shown in the figure below:
The top plate which utilizes the steering stops to attach to the front fork and bottom plate is shown in the figure below. This plate also houses the mounting positions for the steering cables.
